The song described by Jon: "I've just got to try and remember what this song was about. When you get to this point, and you've done 96 songs, or 100 songs, or whatever, it gets pretty hard. New impotent life. That was what it was about. That is what it was. That is what it was, the feeling of powerlessness. It was classic, it was that feeling you get when you're around 25. You go, right, I'm an adult, but I still feel like a fucking teenager and I still don't feel like I have the power to influence my world. I can with my music, but when it comes to the big stuff, like politics or society, I can't change that. I feel powerless. It's weird, because I'm also putting it in context with music, going, 'this is how I can change shit, or this is how I can influence my own life, by making a song like this.' You describe how you're feeling powerless and there's a kick ass bass line and drum beat to sing over." Rip It Up, Aug-Sep 2010.

Lyrics

So, so sick of the same things over
I'm immune to the things you say and do
And I'm tired of hanging around
Hanging out for the knife to push right through
Push it through

And time, and time, and time again
Quick here comes another
Won't you suck it in
And we play outside on a rainy day
You ask me in, so you can throw me away

New impotent life
We Face the colour strike
Impotent life
We Face the colour strike

I can't get it right
I can't get it right

So, so sick and I'm not getting better
I can't stop. Light me another one
Push me into the ground
Six feet under and still going down
I feel you against my skin
I rip myself open to let you in
And this right that we exercise
The bit’s in your teeth, the blood’s in your eyes
I've got no time to analyze it
As the speed picks up it melts your disguise
So alive, that you're killing me
It's the thrill that you get and it's killing me
And so begins the start of my new impotent life

New impotent life
We face the colour strike
New impotent life
We face the colour strike

I can't get it right
I can't get it right
I still can't get it right

I can't get it right
I can't get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
Get it right
