Song meaning as told by Jon: "Ghost From The Past is about an old school chum that I used to spend a lot of time with, who went off the rails mentally. We slowly grew apart as you do with friends in the past, then catching up with him later on and he was a totally different person, but not in a good way. This person is basically a schizophrenic, and it's quite a bummer seeing this person in so much pain and confusion, and not being able to say 'dude, remember how it was'. It probably asks more questions than answers". Rip It Up, Oct. 1996

Lyrics

Met up with the ghost from the past
Who said...
I can't slow down, my mind's moving too fast
And I don't think that I like the things I'm thinking
I said brother try to relax
It takes time for these things to pass
He said fine then he threw me out the door

Should have stayed
He was on the floor
So much pain
Could I have done more?

Saw a ghost from the past just the other day
His body still works but his soul flew away
Or sits somewhere outside behind locked doors
I said brother you should relax
You were better in times that passed
He just smiled as he looked right through me

Ain't no way to get you back now
Ain't no way to bring you back
